Mountain Freehold is a shire in the East Kingdom of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a non-profit medieval recreation group. Freehold territory includes roughly the western side of the Green Mountains in Vermont, from Route 4 north, and from Route 100 west, as shown on this map.  We have been around since 1978.  If you would like to know more about the History of the Shire, please click here.

Officers are responsible for making sure things happen within the Shire. Click here to find out what goes on behind the scenes and who is doing it.
