PURPOSE — A Demo is a chance for the Shire to show people what we do in the SCA. The purpose can be educational, or for recruitment, or both. A demo can have a wide focus or a narrow one. It can be arranged at the request of an outside organization, or it can be something we just decide to do on our own in some public place.

TIMING — In the Freehold, we need at least four weeks of lead time to arrange a simple demo. More complexity may require more lead time. If an outside group requests an insurance rider, we need at least eight weeks notice.

PROCESS

1) The Demo Organizer has preliminary talks with the outside organization that wishes us to hold the demo (if there is such an entity), and gathers basic information.

2) The Demo Organizer proposes the Demo using the webform on our website. This webform goes to the Seneschal, Deputy Seneschal, Chatelain, and Deputy Chatelaine. These officers give preliminary approval or ask for further clarification.

3) If approval is granted, the Demo Organizer uses our usual communication channels to call for Volunteers from the shire to commit before the Go/NoGo deadline.

4) If the Demo Organizer receives a sufficient number of committed Volunteers, the Demo goes on; if not, then not.

5) The Demo Organizer notifies the requesting organization that we can or can’t help them, and notifies the Shire whether the Demo will take place.
