Come celebrate the East Kingdom’s oldest shire as we turn 50!
This is a full weekend of fighting, fencing, archery, thrown weapons, A&S classes, guild meetings (for Foresters, Blacksmiths, and Soothsayers), bardic, dancing, and youth activities. Merchants are welcome. Over the weekend we will hold some of our Shire Championships. We’ll post a full schedule, closer to the event date.
Saturday’s Arabic-themed dayboard is offered to all guests. A multi-course, multi-era feast will be served on Saturday evening, to those who have reserved in advance. The dessert board will be accompanied by dancing and revelry in the Hall.
The site offers bunks in cabins with electricity, as well as tenting space, for an extra fee. If you plan to overnight on the site, you need to reserve by Sept. 14. In addition to the Dayboards on Saturday and Sunday, overnight guests will also be offered a simple breakfast, and on Friday evening there’s a pot-luck Tavern and Hafla (bring food and beverages to share.) Note that there are hotels within a half-hour drive, but the site itself is fairly remote.
Site rules: Beer and wine are allowed, but no glass bottles outside the Feast Hall. Candles and lanterns are welcome in the Feast Hall. No dogs on site (except service animals). Smoking and vaping must be done off-site.
Site opens at noon on Friday Sept. 25, and closes at 6 pm Sunday. The Gate will be open Friday, noon to 10 pm; Saturday 8 am to 4 pm; and Sunday 9 am to noon.

GATE FEE: $30 for adult SCA members, $40 for adult non-members, under 18 free. (That’s for the day or for the whole weekend.) It includes the Saturday and Sunday dayboard, and a light breakfast if you’ve stayed overnight. If you are planning to pay when you arrive at the Gate, be aware that we can ONLY accept cash or checks (made out to SCA Inc., Shire of Mountain Freehold). Note that you will need to reserve before Sept 14 if you plan on staying overnight or partaking of the Saturday evening feast.
FEAST: The Friday Night meal is available to all. It’s a pot-luck, tavern-style evening with a hafla and music. Please bring a dish or beverage to share. The Saturday evening multi-course feast is only available by pre-reservation. It is an additional $20 for adults, $15 for under-18s. The Saturday Feast reservation deadline is Monday, Sept. 14.
LODGINGS: On-site lodgings are available for both Friday and Saturday nights. We offer bunk space in 8-person cabins with electricity. The cost for a bunk is $27 per person per night. (The fee is set by the site contract, sorry!) If you have questions about the bunks, or want to arrange a group to be in the same cabin, please contact Marieke (ckrupp@uvm.edu) .We also have plenty of tent space. The fee for tent-camping is $14 per person per night.

A PayPal invoice will be generated within 24 to 48 hours of the online pre-registration survey being submitted. Online pre-registration is not complete until the PayPal invoice has been paid. Invoices not paid within 7 days will be canceled. Sept. 14 is the final date for PayPal pre-registration. This survey does ask for membership information but you will still need to provide proof of membership at the event.
